Em’s Workout Tips

I’m not going to lie, keeping up a workout schedule is hard. I wish I had some secret to squeeze in a workout every time I’m super busy or exhausted with absolutely no energy. When I figure it out I will let yall know ASAP. I do have tips to make sure when you do fit in a workout that it is going to make your body lean and fit. A lot of people think you just need to lift weights or just need to run. Yes these do work, but you also need to add other workouts to reach your goal and feel amazing.

1. Cardio

Some people don’t even know what cardio is. I didn’t a few years ago and I didn’t realize how vital it is to my workout. I was going to the gym and working out everyday, but I was only lifting weights. I was seeing results but it was bulky and just not what I was going for. I was told I needed to add cardio. What is cardio? It is an exercise that gets your heart rate up. Some good examples would be running, fast pace walking, the elliptical, the arc trainer (my favorite). Really anything fast pace that will get your heart rate up. Honestly running is the best, but it is good to mix it up because your body can get immune to the exercise and you won’t see as much results. It’s also fun to mix it up that way it won’t get boring and you won’t get burned out.

 

2. Life Weights

I promise earlier I was not bashing lifting weights. It is highly recommended. You don’t just want to look like a stick. You want to have some curves and be toned. The good thing about lifting weights is you build muscle. The good thing about muscle is muscles takes way more calories to work. Even at rest muscle burns calories. To get bulky muscles lift heavy weights with less reps. For those lean muscles, us ladies want, use small weights with more reps.

 

3. Do toning body weight moves

This is what Tone it up does a lot and these ladies look amazing. This way you are still building muscle and getting toned, but it won’t be bulky.

 

4. MOVE

During the day move as much as you can. If you have a desk job get up multiple times a day. Don’t sit all day. Park at the end of the parking lot. Take the steps. Anything to make you move more. Then when you are sitting your body is still burning more calories than if you wouldn’t have moved or not taken the stairs. Take a walk if you just aren’t in the mood to work out. Anything is better than nothing. When I starting using my fitbit and tried to get more steps in and move more throughout the day, I saw a difference in my body and energy.

 

5. STRETCH STRETCH STRETCH

People don’t realize how important stretching is. Stretching helps lengthen your muscles giving them that lean look. It also helps prevent injuries. I stretch after every workout. Whether it is walking, running, lifting weights, anything. Make sure before you stretch your muscles are warmed up. If your muscles are not warmed up you could seriously hurt yourself.
